October 2017 Newletter

Picture Day
Picture day is scheduled for Thursday, October 19. Students are not required to wear their uniforms that day, but clothing must reflect the standards of the school.
Kindergarten students do not usually have school on Thursday, but we are planning to have kindergarten on Thursday, October 19. We will not have class for them on Friday, October 20.
Enclosed is an order form from the photographer. Fill out a separate form for each child, along with the payment. If you have more than one child, please do not combine payments. Each order envelope should contain payment for the given child.
The photographer will need the order form and payment on picture day, so please make sure your child brings this in to school on or before October 19.

FCS Breakfast
An all-you-can-eat breakfast fundraiser is planned for Saturday, November 18, from 6:30-10:30 at the school. Costs are covered by your donations. Invite your relatives, friends, and neighbors for a delicious, fun way to start your Saturday.

Parent-Teacher Fellowship
We look forward to meeting all the parents at our parent-teacher fellowship on Monday, October 16, at 7:30 pm. This event will take place on the third floor at school.

Volleyball Tournament
The tournament will be held November 3 and 4 in the FCS gym. Come and cheer on the Lady Fairview Falcons. It should be an exciting weekend of volleyball competition.

School Weather Cancellations
As winter weather draws near, we would like to remind you of several ways you can find out if there is a delayed opening, early closing, or school cancellation. Tune in to radio stations WDAC (94.5 FM) or WEEU (830 AM). You may also want to go to wfmz.com and click on the school closings link. If we have a cancellation, we will send out a One Call Now message around 6:00 am.

We are eagerly anticipating this event on October 25. We have enclosed a sponsor pledge paper, parent letter, and a letter for students to give to businesses. We could still use some adult chaperones to help. All money collected can be brought to the office immediately. We will give your child credit for his/her hard work.

Health Room Emergency Cards
If you have not handed the emergency cards in yet, please do ASAP!

Handbook Updates
We made several changes to our absence policy. All students will be considered absent if they are not present at school. Snow days, siblings visiting conventions, family educational trips, etc. will be considered excused absences – providing you send in the absence cards. A rare exception may be granted for snow if a written request is made to the administration.
Parents going along on field trips who are asked to supervise a child other than their own will now need to have criminal clearances. They can be obtained very simply and without cost. Contact the office if you wish to be cleared for field trips that fall in the nature of the farm show, etc., where you would directly supervise children. Clearances are not needed for trips where the group stays together as one group.
The FCS polo shirts may be worn every day for boys of all ages.
We no longer have a printed handbook. We will attempt to keep the website handbook updated.
