Back to School Night
It’s been a long time since we were here at school! To kick off the school year, we’re planning a Back to School Night on Friday, August 21, from 6-8 PM. Drop in anytime, see your students’ classrooms for the next year, meet their teachers, and enjoy some light refreshments. We are excited to see you all again!
Enclosed you will find the first tuition invoice for the 2020-2021 school term. This statement is due August 21. You will receive one invoice per month for ten months. Your standard bill will be the same each month. Throughout the year, there may be some additional charges for life skills class, achievement tests, reenrollment, unreturned envelopes, field trips, convention, etc.
There have been some updates to the uniform policy.
Boys: A white tailored shirt or FCS gray polo shirt and black pants are required for grades 9 – 12. The FCS gray polo shirt or a plain white polo or tailored shirt is permitted for kindergarten through 8th grade. Girls: The plaid uniform is required for girls in kindergarten through 4th grade. Girls 5th through 12th grade may wear either a gray uniform with a white blouse or a gray caped dress.
Changes for ladies in the upper grades: Gray dresses with the school pattern are still required, but it does not need to be a cape dress. Material must be bought from the school office. If you need someone to sew dresses for you, please let the office know. There will be a $20 fee for each sewn dress.
Changes for the boys: We will be offering a new charcoal gray polo shirt design, as well as charcoal gray dress shirts. The old polo shirts and white shirts are also still allowed to be worn until the end of the 2020-2021 school year. After that, the new style will be the required uniform.
If you need new uniforms, you can stop at school on August 5, from 9-12 AM, and buy new shirts, pick up material, or order dresses.
Please contact Connie Lapp, the secretary, at email@example.com with any uniform questions.
Boys: Boys’ shoes may be dress shoes or sneakers, but must be completely black, including symbols and soles.
Girls: Girls’ dress shoes may be black, grey, or white. Sneakers may be worn, but must be completely black, like the boys are required to wear.
K-12: Pencils, extra lead, pens, erasers, King James Version Bible, tissues
Elementary Grades: Rounded scissors, crayons and/or colored pencils, markers
Grade 4: 2 notebooks, 3 ring binder
Middle School: Calculator, ruler
Grades 4-8: Compass and protractor
Physical forms must be turned in to the office for those entering kindergarten, 7th, and 10th grades. If you have not taken care of this yet, please do so. Doing this will save the nurse and administration a lot of extra time. Forms are available at the office. Please remember to take care of and return immunization records to the school office before September 1. This is especially important for students in Kindergarten.
Health Room Emergency Forms
These new forms will be sent home the first week of school. Please fill out and send back to the office ASAP.
Thanks to COVID-19, we will not have hot lunches in the cafeteria until at least January 2021. We will make a decision at that time about continuing with them in 2021. There are microwaves available if students want to heat up food they bring to school.
If you have not received a notice from your school district by August 19, please call your local school district’s transportation office. They should have a schedule for you. If you have not returned your transportation request to us, please do so immediately.

You should notice a new FCS website in a few weeks, as well as a new calendar. While we will still send home a printed calendar, the online calendar is the best place to look for events, lunch menus, and sports games. We are also switching to a new grading and school management system that will provide more options for viewing students’ grades, events, etc. We hope it keeps you as parents more informed, and makes the switch to remote learning easier if that becomes necessary. It’s a big change, so we’ll be providing those updates gradually in the next year. We will have some information for you on the Back-to-School night and will also send it home in September’s mailing.
We are looking forward to another good volleyball season. The schedule is listed on the school website under girls’ volleyball. We would like to remind the parents that we are not responsible to babysit your children during this time. During away games, the school staff is not responsible for younger children who go along with their older siblings.
COVID-19 Safety Plan
Covid has brought some unwelcome changes for all of us. We are thankful that school is allowed to reopen, and have put in place some common-sense things to hopefully keep school safe and free of the coronavirus. See the attached safety plan.
