Fairview Christian School started classes in the fall of 1977. The 8 Mennonite churches of Reading were looking for a private school where they could teach their children the Christian values they so cherished. After plans for a district school fell through, Jay Fox (Brother Fox) started Fairview Christian School in the basement of Fairview Mennonite Church with 30 students and 4 staff.
During the 1980’s and 1990’s, enrollment gradually increased to nearly 100. In the winter of 1999, the former Spring Ford knitting Mill at 14th and Muhlenberg Street was purchased. This spacious building was exactly what Fairview Christian School needed. Enrollment slowly increased to 150, where it stands today.
In 2008 we were able to add a 7,000 square feet gymnasium. We have enjoyed many gym classes, school programs, and athletic events in this beautiful facility.
Brother Fox served as administrator from 1977 through 2005. Mr. Marcus Fox served from 2005 – 2018. Mr. Arlin King began serving in 2018 and continues to serve.
Though we have gone through many changes over the years, our goals remain the same: to teach young people to grow up to serve Jesus Christ with all their heart and to give them the academic tools necessary to serve Christ and His community.
Our active student body participates in student conventions, singing programs, athletic events, mission trips, fundraisers, and many other inspirational and exciting events too numerous to mention.
Today the school enjoys a diverse body of 150 students and 20 full time staff members. We continue to operate under the direction from the leadership team and school board from Fairview Mennonite Church.
